It’s important to remember that the ‘best’ model for you when it comes to a smart lock might not be the same as the ideal model for someone else. We analyzed each of the different products, paying attention to the key factors that matter the most when it comes to home locks, such as overall security, ease of use, smart features, price, compatibility, versatility, ease of installation, and so on, in order to provide a thorough, detailed overview of what each product has to offer. Since consumers can have very different budgets, we selected three locks per brand in three different price categories: High End, Mid Range, and Low End. I have 5 $200+ locks as I installed them on my apartment building I own for tenants and can’t change codes let people in remotely and have to use the physical key on a freaking $200 lock really?Īnyways I think you get the idea.Since both Schlage and Kwikset offer a wide and ever-growing range of different smart lock products, we decided to focus on a few different options from each manufacture and compare them. Devs should be disappointed as this is a basic function of a lock.Īnyways up to this point no real issues but now even on my old phone as I didn’t trade it in the app there is also stuck in the endless loop. You have digital locks that people can’t use because they get a new phone and you will get around to it later.īeware their customer service is lacking and their is a good possibility that you will be locked out if your home if you upgrade phones. Sent them a message and told me that they were aware of the issue and will get around to it. Waited on hold for almost an hour and finally hung up because my lunch break was up. Finally had to call for my dad to come bring his physical key to let me in out of the rain.įinally I called support. Instead was stuck in an endless loop of having to try to setup a new lock when I could easily see that the app could see my other locks (I have 5). ![]() Went home and tried to launch the app on my new phone and was told that I have to setup a new lock, but I didn’t need to set up a new lock I just needed to get to my current lock so I could get in out of the rain. Yet the Home app doesn't have any issues. However when the iPhone is unlocked using Siri to unlock the Premis lock fails around 66% of the time. It will always fail when the iPhone is locked which seems to be by design likely for security reasons. And before someone asks, it doesn't matter if my iPhone is locked or unlocked. I can usually still unlock the lock with the Home app, but unlocking with Siri is broken. Attempting to use Siri on both of our iPhone's results in Siri giving an error message stating that there is an issue and to refer to the Home app. No longer working with iPhone's Siri to unlock door in latest iOS 12Įvery since iOS 12 was released Kwikset doesn't work properly with Homekit.
